In the late fall of 1984, on a high desert plateau deep in Eastern Oregon, I had the privilege of being initiated into the spiritual lineage of the late Indian Mystic Osho, formerly known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.
Prior to the initiation I had been a seeker for as long as I can remember, running here, there and everywhere in search of truth and understanding. I’d had some experience with meditation, but with very little success.
My hunger to know God and find inner peace took me on many off the beaten paths. I was desperate to find relief from my deep emotional pain, and I was willing to do whatever it took to get it.
It was in direct response to a letter I written to Osho inquiring about the meaning of my new name, Ma Bodhi Nijta: He replied, “Beloved Nijta, you have spent your entire life looking outside of yourself for that which would fulfill you. Now, it is time to take the 180 degree turn and go within to discover all that you have been searching for.” And I did.
I threw myself into Osho’s cutting edge therapy groups and meditations. Suddenly and unexpectedly I got a glimpse of a “peaceful mind.” The more I gave myself to that, the deeper the experience became. Many years have come and gone and I am no longer searching. I have discovered what I was looking for.
It is my sincere desire to share what I have learned with you and to assist you in discovering the inexplicable joy that resides within you.
The love that you have been seeking is the love that you are. Welcome home.
